This very rare salvaged wooden horse from a Merry-go-round is branded Bayol Angers, France. Decorative use recommended.
Late nineteenth / early twentieth-century. This is a collector's item.
About the maker - Gustave Bayol was born in Le Pontet, near Avignon, on December 16, 1859. His father was a carpenter, giving Bayol an early interest in woodwork. The last photographs are postcard from 1900 showing people at a fair enjoying the Bayol carousel and the painting workshop.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
